El Laberinto del Coco

Combining bomba, salsa, and hip-hop‑inflected pop

El Laberinto del Coco was born in 2017 from the creative force of percussionist, composer, and genre-bender Héctor “Coco” Barez. With roots in bomba—Puerto Rico’s powerful Afro-Caribbean tradition—the band takes that ancestral pulse and electrifies it with contemporary sounds: jazz, reggae, funk, and Latin fusion. Their critically acclaimed releases (El Laberinto del Coco, Virtual EP, and a string of high-energy singles) have drawn global attention, culminating in a 2024 NPR Tiny Desk Concert and a multi-city tour through Puerto Rico and the U.S. As cultural warriors and rhythmic visionaries, they redefine what bomba can be—explosive, inclusive, and irresistibly alive.
