Endea Owens is a Detroit-raised bassist, composer, and recording artist, known as one of jazz’s most vibrant emerging voices. A Juilliard graduate and mentee of legends like Marcus Belgrave, Rodney Whitaker, and Ron Carter, she has performed with Wynton Marsalis, Diana Ross, Solange, Jon Batiste, and more.
In 2018, she joined The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as part of the house band Stay Human. Since then, she’s earned an Emmy, a Grammy, and a Peabody Award. Her work appears on Jon Batiste’s Grammy-winning We Are, Judas and the Black Messiah, and H.E.R.’s Super Bowl LV performance.
Endea is also a passionate educator and founder of The Community Cookout, a nonprofit that’s served over 6,000 meals with live music to underserved communities. Her compositions include Ida’s Crusade for Jazz at Lincoln Center and pieces for the Cincinnati Symphony, Pyer Moss, and Glossier.
She currently serves as a curator for the National Arts Club and a Jazz is Now! fellow at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. Her debut album, Feel Good Music, dropped in September.
